Blinking worm image My name is Brian Paavo. I'm a worm guy! But there's not just one, there are a couple of hundred other wormguys and wormladies out there. I'm a marine scientist who specialises in polychaetes, the most diverse class of annelid worms, but really I love almost everything to do with the largest habitat on Earth, the seafloor! I especially enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for this magnificent place with students and professionals interested in using the scientific process for their own discoveries. On this website you can learn a bit more about some seafloor animals and how we learn about marine environments by observing them. Half the fun of any adventure is gettting there, so you'll also see some of the technologies we use in the lab and under the water. You will also find, of course, pictures, resources, and fun facts about some of my favourite seafloor critters!

Sleep apnea is a very difficult thing to live with, both for the sufferer and for people living and sleep with him or her. If you fit into either of these categories, then you know just how frustrating it can be. Read through the tips found in this article to learn the best way to survive this problem! You really need to do your best to lose weight if you have sleep apnea. Those who have sleep apnea typically have a neck circumference of 17 inches or more. This excess weight around the throat causes the airway to collapse more easily during sleep. Reducing your weight by even ten pounds can have a beneficial impact on your sleep apnea. If you are over weight, going on a diet can reduce your sleep apnea, or in rare cases, eliminate it completely. Maintaining a healthy weight can help you breathe easier, so losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight when you have trouble breathing is an obvious step in treating your sleep apnea. Do not take sleeping pills if you suffer from sleep apnea. These pills are not recommended if you suffer from this condition because they relax the muscles of your throat. Skipping them can actually help you get a better night of sleep because your apnea symptoms are not aggravated. If you are taking a great deal of medicines on a regular basis, sit with your doctor and discuss how they can be reduced. Side effects from prescription medication can be making your sleep apnea worse. Keep a dialog open with your doctor and make sure he is up to date on all your symptoms. Check if a corrective device can help alleviate your sleep apnea symptoms. Having an overbite, an undersized jaw or a recessed chin can cause your airway to be more narrow because of how your jawbone is set. These devices help create proper alignment of your jaw while you sleep, opening up your airway more. As a result, you experience fewer sleep apnea symptoms. An excellent way to help lessen the effects of sleep apnea is by losing weight. Sometimes, losing weight is all it takes to get rid of sleep apnea. Even a nominal amount of weight loss will go a long way in improving your breathing at night. Avoid any type of drugs or alcohol if you are experiencing any type of sleep apnea. Drugs and alcohol will slow down your respiratory system, and that is known to be one of the causes of sleep apnea. If you are struggling with this issue, try to get some professional help to overcome these addictions. People who use alcohol, sedatives, and sleeping pills are far more likely to suffer from sleep apnea. This is because these drugs will relax the throat and cause their breathing to be impaired. Using these drugs before bedtime is more likely to cause sleep apnea than using these drugs during the day. Sleep apnea can cause many problems beyond just the inability to get a good night's sleep. If you let your condition go untreated, it may get worse over time. Getting enough sleep is crucial to your overall level of health, so start using the tips you have read in this article right away to find relief.
